This video was created by grade 12 student Krysteena White using original photographs obtained with permission from Ms. Jocelyn Perry, niece of Harry Cross.
Harry Cross is an important individual in Victoria High School’s Great War history, mentioned in many pages of The Camosun periodicals.
Photographs in this video were graciously loaned to us by his niece, Ms. Jocelyn Perry and selected from his personal scrapbook. All photographs include his original captions.
Images appear in the exact sequence of the scrapbook because those are personal memories and there is likely a reason Harry arranged them in a particular sequence. Noteworthy is that the photograph of Victoria High School came up twice. One can speculate that Victoria High School was close to his heart – and where all his most important memories were forged.
Music includes two quirky and upbeat tracks plus a slower track. The slower track reflects the serious nature of his war pictures. The two upbeat tracks reflect the vibrant and energetic personality that is reflected in his photograph album and from information relayed by Ms. Perry. Harry had possessed a keen sense of a humor and wit. I hope that all who view this video see these qualities.
