In memory of Private Harry Cross.
I am Harry CrossI am from the hometown,
Of Victoria, British Columbia. I am from the memories. From my grandmother, From my mother, My sister Princess Lily, From my father, From the "House of H", And even the Garden Girls. I have become what I never thought possible, I have accomplished all I thought was impossible. I have yet to blossom. My potential has yet to flourish. But I am not afraid of war. I will fight for King and Country. I am from the laughter. From the tears. From the moments of fear. From the sound of shells exploding. From the times of bravery. Of grief. Of triumph. Of love. And the faint glow of peace. I am from the Battalion. To fight side by side with my comrades. To protect the home that I love. To protect the family I could not live without. To the memories I made in Victoria High School From the times with the House of H. To fight for my friends. To be the guardian of peace. To be the soldier of a free country. I am from the crack in the kitchen counter, From the photographs that hang on the wall, From the sound of Lily scurrying about, From the countless hours of photography. Snap, snap, snap. From every memory that I have made in this home. All of those I will hold dear. As I faithfully serve my country. I will hold the moments, The beauty of home, The soft laughter of family, And the joy of friendship. I am Harry Cross. |

A special thank you goes to the niece of Private Harry Cross, Jocelyn Perry, for allowing us to write an original composition on this brave man, allowing us to have his needlepoint and medal photographed, but also for allowing us to compose an iMovie on the photos from his scrapbook.
